Emergence

As wisely stated by John F Kennedy, leadership and learning are indispensable to each other. Emergence, is a Club Service project that was initiated by the Rotaract Club of Alumni of University of Moratuwa to bring these words to action, by providing an opportunity for the Board of Directors of the Club to further explore their potentials, as individuals as well as team players, and strengthen their capabilities as leaders.

The project is structured as a one day, activity based programme, and this year Emergence was rolled out on the 7th of August 2017 at Aqua Pearl Lake Resort, Panadura. The agenda for the day comprised of seven group activities, facilitated by the project chair Rtr. Pasan H Kandamby. Each activity was an experiment that challenged the capabilities of the participants through friendly competition. Creative and spontaneous thinking, mutual understanding of capabilities of team members, effective communication and coordination, team spirit are few of the key skills that were made to emerge from all the participants during the course of  the day.

       

The agenda for the day also included time dedicated for the awareness of upcoming District and Club events. As the first session during this allocation, the Activity Plan of the Rotaract District 3220 was unfolded by Rtr. Himantha Alahakoon, President of the Rotaract Club of Alumni of University of Moratuwa, while presenting the purpose of each event. During the latter session, the future Project Plan of the Club was discussed, where the project line-up under each avenue was presented by the respective Directors.

Emergence, as intended, was a successful Club Service project of Rotaract Club of Alumni of University of Moratuwa, with the intended beneficiaries of the project truly reaping the fruits of the time and effort invested for the project. The Board of Directors of the Club were also fortunate to be visited by Rtr. Hiruni Perera, the Guide Club Director for the Club, during the project, adding another highlight to the outcomes of the project.
