Carols Session – Christmas Party

The month of December can be named as the joyous month of the year as the world gets overwhelmed with beautiful Christmas decorations, Christmas lights, Christmas songs and happy people. Though Christmas is supposed to be a religious and cultural festival celebrated mainly by Christians to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, people from all over the world celebrate this festival without any discrimination of religion or caste.

In last December, we, the Rotaractors of Colombo West Rotaract family were gifted with an opportunity to celebrate the joyous Christmas with our parent Rotary Club. On the eve of 13th December 2017, Rotarians from Rotary Club of Colombo West gathered at the Colombo Swimming Club to celebrate the joyous Christmas and to party with eating, drinking, dancing & endless chit chatting ?. But, a Christmas party without beautiful Christmas Carols would be an incomplete one.  Hence, a carol session was jointly organized by the Rotaract Clubs of Colombo West Rotary family, namely Rotaract Club of Alumni of University of Moratuwa, Rotaract Club of University of Moratuwa, Rotaract Club of NSBM, Rotaract Club of ANC and Rotaract Club of Colombo West in parallel to the Christmas party 2017, organised by the Rotary Club of Colombo West.

After practising for several days, we entered Colombo Swimming Club on the said eve, dressed in black & white and wearing Santa hats (boys wore red ties as well). We were warmly welcomed into a
beautifully decorated hall, filled with happy faces and music. We were greeted with wine & drinks and got the opportunity to mingle with Rotarians while sipping our drinks. Then it was time for the carols. We sang a combination of English & Sinhala carols, while the Rotarians joined us in singing and clapping. The event was filled with laughter, dance, drinks & delicious food. That night, we went home baring Christmas gifts. The event was truly a memorable, joyous and an insightful one, where we had the opportunity to mingle with senior Rotarians and get a glimpse of their lives.
