The month of December comes with the celebration of Christ, Christmas, a season to celebrate love and kindness. This is a season to give, to love and to spread kindness. The joy of brightening other lives is the true spirit of Christmas. To make this season a special one in the hearts of those in need and to rekindle joy, would be the ultimate celebration of Christmas.
To share the joy of Christmas, the Rotaractors from Rotaract Club of Panadura, Rotaract Club of University of Moratuwa joined hands with us. The main objective of this project was to make the lives of the girls who are diagnosed with Down syndrome better and to touch their hearts with the message of peace and love of Christmas. With all the preparations in hand & anticipation in hearts, Rotaractors stepped-in to share the joy of Christmas with the sisters living in Special Education School and Home for Girls in Moratuwa, on 17th December 2017.
The event started with everyone joining in to decorate the Christmas tree. After that, a couple of fun-filled games were carried out. They had a lot of fun playing musical chairs and balloon dancing. To bring in more joy to the evening, the Rotaractors and the girls joined in to sing carols. The girls enthusiastically participated in all the activities and the happiness could be seen radiating from their faces.
Refreshments were served and the event came to a close with the arrival of Santa, from whom the girls received presents. Some necessities were also donated to the home. The event gave us an opportunity to share the true meaning of Christmas and bring in love, laughter, and happiness to the lives of the sisters of the Special Education School and Home.
