Kindred Kidneys – Phase 5

The 5th phase of the Project Kindred Kidneys was successfully completed on the 12th of November at Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya with the collaboration of Samastha Lanka Kidney Association (SLKPA). Continuing the good work, Rotaract Club of Alumni University of Moratuwa joined selling the newspaper “Wakugaduwa” to increase awareness regarding Chronic Kidney Disease and raise funds to provide free Dialysis Treatments for underprivileged kidney patients.

As the 12th was a Poya day, Kelaniya Viharaya was filled with pilgrims who came to worship. RtrSanira Sulakshana and I attended representing the Rotaract Alumni Mora and there were around 20 members from SLKPA to accomplish the task of selling newspapers. It was led to a great contribution to the Kidney Association. The famous actress Mrs. Hyacinth Wijeratne also engaged with us in selling newspapers and she was a great strength to us in raising funds. And also, The President of the Samastha Lanka Kidney Patients Association Mr. Priyantha invited us for their main event named “සමස්ත ලංකා වකුගඩු රෝගීන්ගේ සංගමයේ සමාජ සත්කාර උලෙළ” which will be held on 2nd of December 2019. We agreed to provide our maximum support and contribution to that event as well.

As a main project in the community service avenue, we hope to improve the scope of the project Kindred Kidneys and provide the best contribution to accomplish the objective of SLKPA.
